Tailored for people new to Singapore, this language immersion program is a intensive course about Singaporean culture—including Singlish! Firstly, participants will learn about the history of Singapore, giving them a brief understanding of her policies and language background. Next, they will pick up important knowledge for surviving in Singapore. This includes information about the emergency services and the public transportation system.
Language-wise, participants will learn useful expressions like ordering food, asking for directions, making reservations, to name a few. Commonly used Singlish words and phrases will also be taught to students in order to increase their understanding of local culture and people.
The course includes field trip to URA (Urban Development Authority) and Maxwell Food Centre, participants will get to practise these expressions on their own as well as experience Singapore’s urban landscape first hand and be exposed to a new culture.
